Himachal Pradesh Receives Diamond States Award for Outstanding Progress

The state of Himachal Pradesh has been honored with the Diamond States Award for its exceptional development under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. The prestigious award was presented at the Diamond States Summit 2025, held in New Delhi, by the Network 18 Group.

During his address, Chief Minister Sukhu shared his vision for the state, emphasizing his goal to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant and one of the wealthiest states in the country. He highlighted his government’s focus on implementing structural reforms, which will not only yield remarkable results but also ensure the state’s long-term financial stability. Sukhu reaffirmed his commitment to fighting for Himachal Pradesh’s rights within the Federal Structure, aiming to secure crucial development funds.

The Chief Minister outlined several priorities, including strengthening the state’s education system and enhancing healthcare institutions through the modernization of medical technology. He also touched upon the state’s significant hydroelectric potential, which had been previously overlooked. Now, the government is actively engaging with the central government to increase royalties and take over hydro power projects to boost the state’s energy sector.

Expanding on Vision 2027, Chief Minister Sukhu expressed his aspiration for Himachal Pradesh to become a leading Green Energy state. Efforts are already underway to achieve this goal, with the state targeting to become India’s first green state by 2026. The Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) is set to establish 500 MW of solar capacity by 2026-27, with approximately 626 MW of solar projects in various stages of development.

Tourism, a key strength of Himachal Pradesh, also received special attention from the Chief Minister. He announced the development of four natural wellness centers to promote health tourism in the state. Additionally, he mentioned several other ambitious infrastructure projects in the pipeline that will significantly boost the state’s tourism sector.

Chief Minister Sukhu also shared his personal values, describing himself as a humble and simple individual. He reflected on his gesture of driving his own Alto car to the state assembly for the budget presentation, symbolizing his connection with the common man and his simple nature.

The Chief Minister was welcomed at the event by Managing Editor of News18 India. He was accompanied by Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty and senior state government officials.
